Blackbrush is named for its branches which turn black with age and when wet.
The tips of the branches are usually spiny. The flowers of the blackbrush
are small and yellowish and last only a short time. Its leaves are hairy and rather thick with rolled-under edges and its fruits are one-seeded and dry.
The blackbrush grows to heights of 6 feet and is a member of the rose family.
