BROOM SNAKEWEED
Gutierrezia sarothrae
Considered an invasive plant. Cattle do not like it, so it grows unchecked.
It is a sign of a disturbed landscape.
Very widespread in our area. It often grow in extensive patches, especially
at road side and on grazed land.
Hopis sometimes used it for gastric upsets. Navajos once chewed the
stem for the resin to put on insect bites and stings.
