Globemallow
Sphaeralcea coccinea
This plant grows easily in Castle Valley and with a water source can
become quite large.
Bees love the plant; deer don’t. Not the least bit picky about
its soil.
Native to U.S., this plant has several stems and is sometimes found
growing in clumps or even extensive colonies. Its flowers are
orange-pink and resemble miniature hollyhocks.
Globemallows are common plants on western ranges.
It usually grows in sandy washes and rocky hillsides,
sometimes among pinyon and juniper, below 4000 feet, from southern Utah,
southwestern Colorado, and northeastern Arizona to
western Texas and northern Mexico.
